Self Evaluation

All schools are required to take part in something known as self-evaluation.

This self-evaluation ensures that all members of the school community are able to have a say in how well they think the school is doing.

The senior leaders, phase leaders and teachers in the school regularly take part in exercises that help them understand how well the school is doing. We use information gathered from watching lessons, looking at books and displays and using information about achievement.

Pupils are regularly asked about their views as to how the school is doing; this includes new ways of working, learning and other aspects of school life.
Parents are also consulted on an annual basis so that they are able to respond to specific questions. There is an 'open-door' policy in operation and Mr Whitfield is always happy to listen. We also have a suggestion box in the front office that enables parents and carers to write in suggestions.

The governing body also takes part in self-evaluation. They evaluate their own work including how effective they are in supporting and challenging the school and they add to the school's own self-evaluation.

The self-evaluation that takes place helps us to shape where our school is going so that we can continue to strive for excellence.
