Computing in School:

At Nevill Road Infant School, we value Computing as a creative and enjoyable part of our broad and balanced school curriculum. We believe that it should be fully inclusive to every child, offering opportunities for challenge and self-expression. Our aim is to prepare our children for a rapidly changing world through the use of technology. To motivate the children to explore different ways in which technology can be used in school and beyond as well as using technology to explore their own interests. The children will be provided with many opportunities to explore technology safely, to create and edit work and to develop their computational thinking skills.

Our children will reach the end of their journey at Nevill Road Infant School with a firmly-established love of Computing. They will have amassed an impressive collection of cross-curricular, creative outcomes and an awareness and knowledge of a variety of ways to explore and use technology safely. They will be confident in evaluating and improving their work and unafraid of trying out new and bold ideas. Our school displays, children's work books, journals on Tapestry and documents stored on Google Drive will reflect these creative outcomes and also the children’s sense of pride in their digital work across the school. The children will be responsible, competent, confident and creative users of information and communication technology.

Our aims are to:

• use technology with purpose, enjoyment and confidence

• identify situations and opportunities where the use of Computing is relevant

• begin to develop the necessary skills to exploit Computing

• become autonomous users of technology

• be selective in the appropriateness of its use both in and out of school

• begin to evaluate the benefits of Computing and its impact on society

• recognise that Computing affects the way in which people live and work

• be able to evaluate, reflect and comment on the use of Computing

• achieve the highest possible standards of attainment

• celebrate success in the use of technology
