History

History Subject Leader: Kathryn Rogers

At Nevill Road Infant School, we value History as a thought-provoking and engaging part of our broad and balanced school curriculum. We believe that it should be fully inclusive to every child; offering opportunities to explore, challenge and deepen their understanding of the world. It will also give our children an awareness of how past events & significant people from Britain and around the world, have impacted on the present day. Our aim is to motivate the children to investigate and discover the past, through an exciting, inspiring curriculum and to be able to place this understanding within a chronological framework. The children will be provided with many opportunities to research, interpret evidence and ask and answer perceptive questions about the past.

Our children will be taught the key concepts of chronology, continuity & change, significance, similarities & differences, evidence and local history. These key concepts will be explored within each year group and across each year group, enabling our children to develop a foundational understanding of history and learn to appreciate the past, its people and events.
